The Ocean State Senior Olympics celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2017. The traditional opening weekend that features Track & Field has been pushed back to August (specific dates to be announced shortly.)
The scheduled events include Archery, 3x3 Basketball, Ten Pin Bowling, Cycling, Golf, Pickleball, 5K Road Race, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Track & Field, Triathlon and Volleyball.
The RI Senior Games offer men and women over the age of fifty a sporting experience that emphasizes fun, fellowship and friendly competition at some of the outstanding athletic facilities in the state. The games are targeted at encouraging older adults to develop and maintain good physical fitness through regular participation in exercise, recreational activity and sporting competitions.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded in each sport, event and age group. The sporting competitions are held within five year age increments, beginning with 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and continuing thru the oldest participant.
Registration for the Ocean State Senior Olympics can be done by printing out a registration form on www.riseniorolympics.org and mailing it in. There will be no online registration this year.
